Bag Pipes

Grier Coppins began his musical career in the mid-'70s, playing bagpipes at the corner of Bloor and Yonge. Pre-Rob Ford, he made the Toronto Star's front page after the cops arrested and charged him with "projecting noise into the street".

He beat the rap in court and has continued to play on the wrong side with bands Rare Air and Taxi Chain.

You might say he's Toronto's Mayor of the Pipe(s).

Grier's got his own new recording, The Prince That Nobody Knows,
and is hosting a bagpipe juke joint party to celebrate it's release.

My Dad, who put on his wings last year, was a drummer in many pipe bands.

As a family, we went to many Highland Games when I was a kid.

They were always great fun.
